Cawl Spoon #2

As always, my woodwork is sustainably sourced from trees

But,

Eating Spoon # 5: The first Lefthanded Leaf Spoon

This is a spoon that could be tossed in a backpack or even carried in a pocket.  It is refined enough for the kitchen, but I envisioned this one for campfires and fairly rough use. While this spoon is trail ready, the pinch is narrow enough that it could easily be used by a small child.  I guess I started out carving a man's spoon and ended up with a tough, all 'round spoon for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.  It is sealed

***This item has been sold, but I can carve another! Please email me at judson@judsoncarroll.com if you want one.**** Last week I showed y'all a picture of a set of spoons I was sending to a friend and immediately, requests for cooking spoons began!  People really liked the pointed tip that allows you to get into the corners of pots.  So, this is the first one for sale. I think the knot in the bowl of this spoon is particularly nice.  Not only is it attractive but knots in American holly are very hard.  The position of this knot gives the bowl added strength. The total length of the spoon is 10 inches, so it is a good pot stirrer with a deep enough bowl to be a good serving spoon, as well. The wood is very smooth and finely grained.  It feels very good in the hand. As always, my woodwork is sustainably sourced from trees that are storm damaged or that must be thinned. Each piece is entirely hand made in the ancient greenwood tradition. I use only a hand saw, a small axe and knive

*** SOLD*** The Leaf Spoon Set

Image
A couple of weeks ago, I promised to list these for sale as quickly as possible.  These are asymmetrical "Leaf Spoons" of my own design.  One is perfect for a left-handed person and the other for a right-handed person and I would like to sell them as a set since these are made from the same piece of wood and would be perfect for a couple.  The price will be $50, including shipping.  I REALLY like these two!  I lightly sanded the backs, so the tool marks show - that gives these a very handmade, artisan look.  I did sand all other surfaces smooth though, so they are comfortable in the hand and in the mouth.  They are sealed with walnut oil and ready to use and display right away.  I have made several similar spoons for lefties and righties that are not part of a matching set, so if you only want to buy one spoon, just email me and I will set it up (judson@judsoncarroll.com)
