Eating Spoon #9

Price $30 with free shipping in the continental US. I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com This is a strong, sturdy eating spoon that is not too heavy for the kitchen but would also make for a nice backpacker's spoon. It has very nice lines and a wide enough handle that you could customize it with initials or a design of your own. I think whoever buys this one will enjoy using it.  It is sealed with Walnut Oil.  As always, my woodwork is sustainably sourced from trees that are storm damaged or that must be thinned. Each piece is entirely hand made in the ancient greenwood tradition. I use only a hand saw, a small axe and knives. Each piece comes with a handwritten, numbered and signed document. ...

Pocket Spoon #3

Price $25 with free shipping in the continental US. I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com This is a pretty little pocket spoon!  It is light and the perfect size for a shirt pocket.  It would make a great tasting spoon in the kitchen, but is large enough to be a good eating spoon, as well. It has some nice color on the bowl.  The lines are graceful and it really feels nice in the hand. I think every cook should have one of these.  I actually try to make the bowl thin enough that sunlight can show through, so the choice of wood is essential.  This is American Holly, which is very strong and tightly grained.  It is sealed with Walnut Oil.   As always, my...

I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com This is a smaller... dare I say dainty?... version of the eating spoons I have featured recently.  While this spoon is perhaps half as stout as my "backpacker' spoons, it is by no means delicate. Like the others, this spoon is carved out of American Holly and is very tough.  I had an idea that I should carve a few for folks whose hands might be a bit more normal than my massive meat hooks... perhaps even feminine. With that in mind though, it occurred to me that ladies often like to decorate an item - to make it their own.  So, I left the handle wide and smooth.  If you are looking for a spoon to...

Cooking Spoon #3

Price $30 with free shipping in the continental US. I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com This is a pointed cooking spoon, as opposed to the more common round ones.  I find both to be useful in the kitchen.  I like to cook with cast iron dutch ovens, which have steep sides. The pointed spoons are good for getting into the corners of the pot.   A spoon like this is what I reach for when cooking jambalaya or other rice dishes, lentil stew and specially grits but, of course, it has many uses. The spoon feels good in the hand.  It is extremely smooth with graceful lines that really display the ultra-fine grain of American Holly.  After sanding and sealing with walnut oil, ...

Pocket Spoon #2

I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com I have a particular fondness for Pocket Spoon... they seem somewhat emblematic of my heritage.  You see, I am mostly equal parts Irish, French and English.  Although this spoon is based on an English design, the pocket spoon is very at home in the Scottish (or Celtic in General) sporran.  But, as a cooking obsessed partial Frenchy, I have to keep a tasting spoon in my shirt or jacket pocket.  The tasting spoon is as essential as the hand towel I keep tucked into my belt.   But, it isn't just that Pocket Spoons have an ancestral feel to me, or that I use one frequently as ...

Cawl Spoon #3

I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com The Cawl Spoon is a traditional Welsh design.  It can be used as either a cooking or eating spoon.   There is a reason spoons like this have been carved and used since before the Roman Empire.  The lines of the handle and the shape of the bowl are elegantly simple, but it takes a lot of practice and skill to carve them just right - the selection of wood is also very important to ensure a strong, smooth spoon that really feels right in the hand and the mouth.    It is sealed with walnut oil, comfortable and ready to use.  I think the "crank" on this one is particularly nice - t...

Serving Spoon #2

I ship using USPS Ground, which is the least expensive option that included a tracking number.  If you prefer Priority Mail or another shipping option, international shipping or would like to combine shipping on multiple items to save a little money, please email me at  judson@judsoncarroll.com This is a leaf-shaped serving spoon with a nice, deep bowl.  Being a gravy fanatic, I like to use serving spoons like this so that I can not only scoop rice, mashed potatoes and vegies onto my plate, but heaping spoonfuls of gravy and onions as well.  I'm Southern after all, and unless I need to set a table for a special gathering, I don't use a gravy boat.  I make my gravy in the same pan that I cooked the meat and I fix my Blue Willow plate at the stove, country style!  But, this spoon would be equally at home on the table in a more formal setting and is deep enough to avoid drippi...

This spoon is not too large or too small.  It fits comfortably in the and in the mouth.  It is sturdy without being bulky.  The wood is very smooth and finely grained.  It is sealed with walnut oil for a permanent seal and a satiny finish.
