Spalting is a unique color pattern that occurs when turkey tail and other mushrooms begin to colonize the wood. Sometimes, it is deeply spalte. This section just has a bit of light spalting ont he spoon, but the turkey tails gave the wood a beautiful, almost caramelized color. This is a very pretty cooking set that is comfortable int he hand. No two spalted sets are the same.
